The country’s tourist arrivals have posted a 26.7 percent growth in June, the seventh consecutive month of record-high foreign influx.

According to a government report, the city-state has attracted more than 950,000 foreign tourists in June alone, resulting to a 5 percent retail sales growth during this month and nearly 18 percent economic growth in the first half of the year.

Meanwhile, the government said the top five visitor-generating markets were Indonesia with 214,000, Malaysia with 93,000, India with 83,000, Australia with 75,000, and China with 69,000 visitors.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) has increased 17.9 percent during the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2009 when the city-state has experienced slow growth due to economic recession.
